Rattlesnake Video

Here is a (slightly shaky) video I made of the Diamondback Rattlesnake preparing to eat the House Finch it has just killed. These snakes have been known to eat prey as large as quail but then some rattlers can approach 5′ in length. This particular rattler was probably no more than 2′. Nevertheless watching it ingest the bird is pretty impressive.
